The 8th episode of Season 3 (episode 28), welcomed Indiana State Senator, J.D. Ford to Defending Indiana. Senator Ford is the first, and so far only, openly LGBTQ+ member of the Indiana General Assembly. As one of the youngest members of the Indiana Senate, he is proud to represent Hoosier Millennials. He represents Indiana Senate District 29 and is a full-time legislator representing his diverse district. We had a meaningful conversation about the status of LGBTQ+ rights in Indiana and how the perception that the Hoosier State isn’t gay-friendly affects the state and it’s residents.
