We talked about the origins of the term “Region Rat” which is used to describe the residents of Northwest Indiana. While this term is somewhat controversial, the City of Hammond decided to embrace it with the creation of 219 Day as a way to celebrate the pride of the region and everyone who grew up with a 219 area code.
